Released ahead of the Publishers Association's annual
meeting, the figures in the PA Yearbook, which report on sales for
calendar 2016, presented a bouyant picture of British publishing. The
only fly in the ointment is a fall in domestic e-book sales. The
headline figure of a 7% increase in sales, to £4.8 billion, brings
publishing to a record level; once inflation of 1%-2% last year is
